Sessions Policies
Freestyle Sessions Policy
Dance-only sessions are designated training times intended specifically for figure skaters practicing ice dance and dance-related skating skills in a safe, respectful, and organized environment. All skaters, coaches, and parents must adhere to the following policy.
1. Eligibility
- Dance-only sessions are open only to registered figure skaters who have approval from the rink or academy.
- Skaters must possess sufficient skating skills to safely participate in a dance-focused session.
- Beginner skaters, public skaters, and hockey players are not permitted during dance-only sessions unless specifically approved.
2. Purpose & Permitted Activities
Dance-only sessions are created for ice dance and dance-related training, including but not limited to:

Ice dance patterns
-
Edges, turns, and footwork
-
Skating skills specific to dance
-
Dance programs with or without music
Freestyle skaters may also participate.
Jumps (double and more), throws, lifts, and pair elements are strictly prohibited during dance-only sessions without special permission.
3. Coaching & Lessons
- Only NOKI INC.-approved coaches may teach on dance-only sessions.
- Private and semi-private lessons must be scheduled in advance.
- Coaches are responsible for ensuring their students follow all dance-only session rules and safety guidelines.
- Unauthorized coaching is strictly prohibited.
4. Right of Way & Ice Etiquette
- Skaters practicing dance patterns or dance programs with music have the right of way.
- Pattern paths must be respected at all times.
- Skaters must be aware of their surroundings and look before entering or crossing pattern paths.
- Standing, resting, or blocking pattern areas is not permitted.
5. Music Usage
- Music must be submitted according to rink procedures. Only one skater’s music at a time will be played.
- Music requests must be reasonable and respectful of all skaters on the session.
- Abuse of music privileges may result in loss of music access.
6. Safety & Conduct
- Unsafe skating, reckless behavior, or interference with other skaters is not permitted.
- Sitting, lying, or excessive standing on the ice is prohibited.
- Headphones, phones, and personal electronic devices are not allowed while skating.
- Skaters must immediately comply with instructions from coaches and rink staff.
7. Session Limits
NOKI INC. reserves the right to limit the number of skaters per dance-only session.
- Sessions may be divided by skill level when necessary.
- Skaters must exit the ice promptly when their session ends.
8. Attire & Equipment
- Proper skating attire is required at all times.
- Figure skates must be worn; hockey skates are not permitted unless approved.
- Hair must be secured; gloves are recommended.
- All equipment must be in safe, functional condition.
9. Parents & Spectators
- Parents and spectators must remain off the ice and out of skaters’ training space.
- Coaching, instructing, or signaling from the boards is not permitted.
- Disruptive behavior may result in removal from the rink.
10. Discipline & Enforcement
Failure to comply with this policy may result in:

Removal from the session without refund

Temporary or permanent suspension of dance-only session privileges
Dance-Only Sessions Policy

- Beginner skaters, public skaters, and hockey players are not permitted during freestyle sessions unless specifically approved.
- Skaters must skate at a level appropriate for freestyle ice.
2. Purpose & Permitted Activities
Freestyle sessions are created for individual figure skating training, including but not limited to:

Jumps
-
Spins
-
Skating skills
-
Solo dance
-
Practice of skating programs with or without music
Partnering, pair skating, ice dance partnering, or skating while holding hands or physically connected to another skater is strictly prohibited without special permission. This includes side-by-side skating, assisted elements, or any form of partnered practice, regardless of level.
Exception: A brief, controlled physical connection between a coach and a skater is permitted solely for instructional demonstration purposes (e.g., showing position or timing). Such demonstrations must be limited in duration, performed safely, and must not interfere with other skaters or disrupt the freestyle session.

Disclaimer
By taking the ice on one of our sessions, you acknowledge the inherent risks of bodily harm associated with ice skating and take on full liability in case of an accident causing injury. It is the responsibility of the skater and/or their guardian to maintain awareness of one's surroundings at all times.
We reserve the right to remove any skater from the ice for not following session rules, creating an unsafe environment, or in any other way impeding a positive skating experience for other skaters.
Registration
Registration for our sessions is done on a walk-in basis. Check our Schedule, come in for the session you want to skate, pay at the front desk, and get on the ice!
